Inspired by ybonesy’s Arriving Albuquerque From Seat 21A and Leaving Portland From Seat 21A, I wanted to post Liz’s aerial shots from her trip last week from Minnesota to Wyoming. I wrote about the Minnesota puddles above in Shadow Of A Dragonfly. The two shots below are Wyoming from the air.

In the last shot, Rattlesnake Mountain is on the right, Cedar Mountain on the left, and more of the Absaroka Mountains in the distance. I anticipate views over the Great Lakes as I fly from Minnesota to Pennsylvania in the morning. There is something about changing locations, covering over a thousand miles in less than two hours, that kind of wakes you up. I think it’s good for the creative soul to zip from place to place, flying like a bird. Though I have to admit, I’d much rather drive.

I keep returning to this post to look at the photo Follow the Red Road. Something about the green of the trees and how they form a sort of shadow line, and then the lighter tan of the mountain tops and the red of the surrounding flat land – it looks like a painting instead of a photo. It’s really cool. Thanks for taking and posting the photos.

ybonesy: I really like that shot, too. You should see the rest of Liz’s photos from Wyoming. Amazing. All kinds of wildlife, wildflowers, and geography that should be in the pages of National Geo.
The red road shot is cool to me because of the way the little mountains are landscaped with those red ruts. I told Liz it looks a lot like the badlands when you drive from North Dakota into Montana. That’s one of the prettiest parks you’ll find. The beauty is in the color and starkness. You’re right – kind of like a painting.
