We sat in a circle around a ring of snow, inside a ring of stones, inside a ring of kindling. It was damp outside. The moon rose in a foggy black and white photo over the house to the east. The fire felt good on my bones. After a while, my feet got cold but it didn’t seem to bother me. I saw something hop and trot, then stop. Is that a fox? I said. It is, it’s coming our way. The fox stared and came right for us. It walked close to the fire, headed to the next yard, and circled back. Susan said she had put out a lamb shank earlier in the day. The fox must have smelled it. The shank was gone. The fox came close to the spot where it had been and dug up a bone out of the snow, crunched on it. The fox was small and petite. A month or so ago, I saw a fox at Lake Como near the Conservatory over lunch. I watched it for a good fifteen minutes before it disappeared into a grove of trees. After the petite fox left, we saw another fox out on the pond in the distance. Then we heard them barking to each other across the ponds that are Twin Lakes.

Oh, QM. This is beautiful. I’ve been dreaming about a fox. We had one living near the pond in Ohio, and she would come out and play and sun herself on warm days in the winter. Watching her hunt was a lot like watching a cat, at least in the way she would jump on her prey.
A friend mentioned a website called Inner Hue (http://innerhue.com/) where there is an Instant Intuition page where you “draw” an Oracle Card. I’ve seen the fox there a couple of times, and it’s always delightful.

Robin, what a great site. I pulled a card from the Alchemist Oracle (LINK) this morning – Suns Rays. We’ve packed up most of our books in the house at the moment and I miss my decks of cards. I have been feeling a need to break open more around my creative work and find them helpful. I went to an Intuitive years ago and did a few readings. They helped to give me focus and direction. It’s easy to get lost in the work world. I appreciate your insights. And thank you for stopping by red Ravine.
I loved seeing the fox. I had forgotten how playful they are in the wild. It makes me feel closer to the Earth to pay attention to the wildlife around me. It is great that you have been dreaming about Fox. Powerful to remember those kinds of dreams. With this poetry practice, I often wake up with poetry in my head. It is at those times, I remember more of my dreams, too. Have a good weekend. That’s the time I reclaim a little time for myself.
