In Gratitude for another year of red Ravine, with much appreciation to our readers and guests. You keep the community going strong and inspire me every day with your courage, grace, and humor. red Ravine was conceived in Taos, New Mexico, born on November 3rd, 2006, and launched as an Aries, April 7th, 2007. It seems important to mark the passing of time, to reflect and remember how far we have come.
On the first anniversary in 2008, we were living dangerously. The second year, we celebrated poetry with a Postcard From Billy Collins — Kicking Off National Poetry Month. Year three explored the range of horoscopes of our readers. Here we are at the end of year four. I saw my first butterfly this afternoon signaling the birth of Spring. It held all the promise of a passionate year five. Thank you for all you have given!

Happy Birthday, Red Ravine! And thank you for being there. Again and again, you’ve reaffirmed me as a writer, made me laugh, taught me things I didn’t know I didn’t know, impressed me with your words and the words of others, held a writerly space open for me at times when I wondered if I belonged, invited me into dialogs, tickled and moved me. I am grateful for you and for all who visit here.
Kudos for keeping the site going!

annie, Teri, jude, Bo, Teresa, and Roma — Thank you so much for stopping by today and helping me celebrate. I feel so lucky to have you all in my life. And I very much appreciate your contributions to red Ravine.
And, Roma, miss you, too. It’s a new experience keeping things going on this small quiet space on the Internet, but I’m so glad I kept going. I really do love it here. I feel blessed to have had readers keep on going with me: some new, some old timers, some read quietly and I’ll never know them at all. But as long as there is energy here, I’ll keep it going.
Thanks to all who visit here!

The happiest of Birthdays to red Ravine, and bless you, QM, for keeping us all growing and developing together! You know, 4 year olds are pretty rambunctious, and you’ve gotta keep channeling all that energy into positive streams. So, where are you taking us this year? Looks like every year, so far, has had a “theme.” Shall it be the butterfly, which shows us how we can transform ourselves, (and our writing) into new expressions of life?
A butterfly kiss to you. (Did you do this when you were a kid? One places their closed eye on another’s cheek, and then “flutters” their eye lashes, which causes tickling and mirth.) Ask Liz if she remembers.

Hmm, never did that butterfly kiss before, Oliverowl. Now I want to try that! 😛
Happy birthday/anniversary to red Ravine! I’m so happy to have met you and Yb on here as well as many other poets/writers/artists and friends! 🙂 Here’s more years to come!

oliverowl, thank you so much. I hadn’t thought of that aspect of being 4 years old — ENERGY! The Butterfly year is a great idea. Yes, transformation. It feels like a transition year. Thank you for the butterfly kiss. I remember them from my childhood, too. I just asked Liz if she remembered the butterfly kisses and she got a big smile on her face, a child-like wonder. She said she remembers them before going to bed. 8) I’ll carry the butterfly kiss as a pleasantry for a much needed relaxing Friday night. It’s been a tough couple of weeks. Resting now and watching the taping of the Minnesota Twins season opener at home. Hope you are well!
Lotus, thank you. I’m hoping for many more years, too. You’ll have to ask someone down in your neck of the woods for a genuine butterfly kiss. There is no other feeling than those little lashes fluttering across the cheek. 8) Good childhood memories.

QM, going strong at four providing a feast for all who call, o so generously. Red Ravine has been one of my necessities, which I foolishly laid aside for over a year, but once again I am back to resume feasting. Thank you for all that you do here. G

G. I am so happy you are back! After what seems a long and rigorous absence with many twists and turns. Thank you for stopping by and for your kind comment. I’m happy to still be here. There are days when I find a lot of peace roaming around this space on the Internet. I like how slowly it moves. 8) My pace. Look forward to reading more on Suburban.
