roseheart pouring out
left me warm and dripping wet
standing in the rain

At first I thought something had smeared the picture and then I realized I was seeing the rain on the rose, rosebud, and leaves…a confusing image for me until I realized what I was seeing. Don’t know where my brain was this morning when I looked at the photo. The roses appear somewhat unreal, but beautiful.

Bob, thank you. This was one of the first times I actually stood in the pouring rain with the BlackBerry to take the shot. The roses at the library were so beautiful, the rain so cleansing, that I was drawn to stand there and take photos. It was hard to keep the BlackBerry dry, and it was quite wet when I was done, but it felt so good to get drenched.
When I got home and looked at the series of 5 photos, it was hard to choose which one to publish. They were all full of little pings of light where the rain was hitting the roses when I took the photo. And puddles and drops on each of the roses where the rain was collecting, a natural rain barrel.
This might be one of my favorite photos from this series yet. Maybe it’s because it changed my state of mind when I took it, standing there in the rain.

This is so beautiful, QM. And perfectly matched — words and picture.

This photo is so quenching, so satisfying, I can feel its moisture. I liked reading about how you got drenched taking it. I want rain!!

Ah, ybonesy, I hope it rains for you in New Mexico soon. We’ve had a crazy June already. So far May has been cooler than April for us. And in June, we’ve had sun mixed with fog and rain. Today it was windy, sunny, and poured down rain for about an hour where I live. I love rain.
