the mighty Rio Grande

ok QM, your “Lifeline” just reminded me of something totally unrelated. Forgive me, but I think you and yb would want to know (if you don’t already). Tonight on “Lifetime” channel is the debut of the Georgia and Alfred’s story and will include Mabel Dodge.

BTW, love the graphic quality in the photo!

As a science teacher, I really like your second haiku. Very good!

mimbresman, thank you. Just learned that from a person on Flickr who commented on one of my photos. And it ended up in a haiku!

Heather, thank you! As fate would have it, my mother called a little bit ago and told Liz and I about the Georgia O’Keeffe story on Lifetime. But we had just had dinner at Pizza Luce with a friend in the city and were driving around the lakes on the way home.
We just got home, I saw your comment, and we checked our channels — we no longer get Lifetime! Bummer. We downsized our satellite earlier this year when I lost my job and now get fewer channels. We’re going to have to figure out how to watch it another way.
You and Mom are going to have to let me know how it is!

QM,
My report back. Although I think the two lead actors are very fine indeed at their craft (Jeremy Irons is in my top 5) I didn’t enjoy it as much as I’d hoped to. I’ve read just about every biography written on the two and being a purist on this subject, I felt their story was good enough as is. Movie makers just can’t help ad-lib, commercials every 5 minutes didn’t help and there just wasn’t enough time to do it properly. I know Michelle Pheiffer has long wanted to do her life story. She has a brilliant writer husband. Maybe someday they will team up and do the legends justice 😉
But the costumes… absolutely spot on!

Heather, oh, I’m bummed you didn’t like it. Well, it does make sense that the commercial breaks and extra theatrics for moviegoers might detract. Maybe I’ll see it anyway sometime in the future to see for myself. It might be worth it just for the period clothing. (You know how much I like that from my comments on your Civil War enactment post.) I love to watch movies where they have to recreate everything from a certain time in history. Don’t know why. History buff I guess.
