This is so cool, to find a key in the lock of the abandoned Dodge…really quite amazing.
I took a walk in the bosque a few months ago, and realized when I was heading back I had lost my keys. I was going crazy retracing my steps, and locked up in terror as to what I would do without the keys…
When I got back to the car at the parking area, I saw I had left them in the trunk lock, very obviously, but no one had noticed them.
It gave me a little lesson in awareness and the transformative power of fear!

The best Haiku yet!
QM, are you sure Dodge is a “she”? Did you check under the hood? ;)H

Scaramastra, what a great haiku response! I like it better than the post senryu. I read it last night and am just getting to responding. Always happy when you stop by. Are you doing a daily haiku practice? Thought I remembered that you wrote haiku frequently.

diddy, thank you so much. This haiku was the way I felt yesterday. Some days I feel like I’m just turning my wheels, spinning, spinning, spinning. When all the time, the answers I am seeking are right there inside.

lil, that is quite a key story. I’m so glad it turned out well. I’m always paranoid about locking my keys in my car when I’m in little traveled places. Had not thought of leaving them in the trunk, but it wouldn’t be beyond me.
I think the idea of being stranded somewhere like that creates a lot of fear. And now I’m wondering if you had your cell phone with you — but you must not have.
In the days before cell phones when I was traveling cross country in my car alone, I used to wonder what I would do if I got stranded in the middle of New Mexico, Nebraska, Montana. I mean, unless you’ve driven across those states, you don’t realize how absolutely alone and isolated you are on many stretches of highway or up on the top of mountain passes.
These days we have cell phones. But they don’t always get reception in the mountains. When I travel alone by car, I always have an escape plan tumbling through my mind, just in case. You just never know!

Heather, thank you! Hmmmm, you know I did think about the use of that pronoun. And now I wonder — maybe the old Dodge is a “He.” Did not check under the hood but now I wish I had!

Thank, QM! No, I don’t usually do a daily haiku practice, although I do notice that often, a subject will come up and I start thinking in haiku form…not sure what that means, haha.

QM, I also love this haiku. It has so many interpretations, thus making it mysterious in a wonderful way. And the photo is one-of-a-kind.

Thanks breathepeace, ybonesy. Scaramastra, I sometimes dream in haiku. Maybe your thinking in haiku form means some part of you does have a daily practice. I find the haiku form kind of comforting when I can’t sleep. Think I’ve done a few posts on that over the years. Haven’t slept well this week either. More haiku for the notebook!

I love that photo. It’s been a long time since I shot in film. Wouldn’t have a clue how to develop it any longer.
And, QM. you dream in haiku? How awesome! Do you always wake up and get them in your notebook?

I’m with you on the lack of sleep, QM. I go through cycles with it. It’s either I can’t get any sleep or I can’t seem to get enough.
Maybe you’re right about the ‘mind haiku’ being a daily practice…I hadn’t thought about it that way. Interesting. 🙂

Bo, no, not always do the dream haiku make it into my notebook. Sometimes they wake me up though and I have to grab a pen, turn on the light, and write them down. Since I started this new job, I’m so dead on my feet by 9pm, don’t know if I’ll ever remember another dream haiku. My insomnia is gone for the moment.
Scaramastra, I’m in one of those periods now where I can’t get enough sleep. I’m so tired this week!
