HA! Great shot QM
When you were a kid… did ya ever take the crust off Wonderbread and then roll the soft white part into a big ball and eat it like a clump of dough? That’s was the best!

Thanks, all. 8) 8) 8)
heather, I sure did. I used to love to eat that clump of dough ball. I wonder if it still wads up the same way it used to?
Teri, I don’t know if you’ll read this. But there’s a recipe on the Wonder Bread site that would be perfect to hide your SPAM in when you buy it. [See SPAM Comment #79 here (LINK).]

Hmmm. Just cheesy enough. 8)

Hey, I have one of those containers! I would never actually eat Wonder Bread, I do love the container (even though most other types of bread won’t fit in the container until I bite off the edges).

I just KNEW there was someone out there who had one of these little Wonder containers! I almost bought one when I was with Mom that day (I wonder if she would have thought I was weird?). 8)
I haven’t had Wonder Bread in quite a while either. But I am tempted every day when I pass a Wonder store on Winnetka with all kinds of Hostess baked goods and bread.
Well, I’m glad I didn’t get the little Wonder sandwich container then, since most of the bread I eat is whole wheat and “fat”. I can barely fit my sandwiches into a sandwich bag if I stack them for lunch like a Dagwood. 8)

I am a former maker and eater of rolled lumps of Wonder Bread innards. Although my mom wasn’t big on brand names, so it might have been the cheapest white bread from Safeway. They all worked the same.
My girls love what they call “soft bread.” No fancy loaves, no rustic, Italian, farm, sourdough, rye breads for them. In short, no “fat” bread. Just good ol’ soft bread, long loaves, the kind prone to be smashed during sacking and/or on the way home from the grocery store. They’re OK with wheat, just as long as it’s soft. 8)

QM, you will have to share with me where you found these sandwich containers! I have never seen them in this area! How cool! D

diddy, ask Mom what her favorite store is; it’s the one she visits often. There was a display of them as we were rounding a corner up near the front of the store. Of course, it could have changed by now. But they might just still have them! 8) How was Dutch Wonderland?

Dutch Wonderland was great! It truly is a good park for children, though adults are also able to ride the majority of rides! It was a very sunny day here, but they have a lot of shaded areas there. J & I took our turns riding the rides with Brant (I was on the wimpier rides!). Brant also took a pony ride. The bad news? J got the camera ready & placed it on the back of the loveseat at home & forgot to grab it, so we do not have any photos. I must say I was exhausted when we left! Today will be craft & reading day for me & Brant! D

Ah, J. is brave to go on the harder rides. I can do the wimpy ones like you, but would get so sick on the twirlers! So sorry you forgot the camera. But you know, sometimes memories are better than photos.
Hope you and Brant have fun with crafts and reading today! Give him a big hug for me. I have a few mandalas left to color this weekend. So I’ll be doing that part of the time. I’m actually looking forward to it. 8)

ybonesy, do you and Jim eat the soft white bread, too? Or do you end up buying two loaves of bread on every family trip? Once in a while I like to order white toast when I go out to breakfast (I love to go out to breakfast). I get cravings for the old fashioned white bread toast, drenched in butter and jelly. 8)
Mom used to sometimes toast homemade pound cake in the mornings when we were growing up. It’s full of calories but so YUMMY toasted for breakfast. Ah, I’m craving some now.

QM, I was the brave one on the turtle twirl! We got whipped around pretty good! And yes, we will always have the memories. I gave Brant a big hug from you & you will see him in July for sure. He has already read the book for today! D

diddy, Ah, it is you who endured the twirl and spins of the mighty turtle! Oh, good, big hugs. I’m already looking forward to July. It is coming on fast!

July? What happens in July? Is somebody coming a-calling? Did I just hear someone say moonshine?

Plenty, just for you and Scaramastra!(although she did put a slight dent in it!) I will be visiting my family next week, so perhaps I can replenish the stock!:) D

diddy, I have to hold my nose when I take a shot of that stuff. Whew! You must be heading to your family’s for the Fourth of July. Have a great time. I can’t believe June is nearly over. We are heading downtown this afternoon for Pride. Hope the weather holds. We just had a quick thundershower with little bits of hail. It’s been a crazy June!

QM, actually I am headed to family’s so that I can be there on the 3rd for my friend’s celebration of life & the spreading of his ashes. I hate traveling over the holidays! I do plan on staying there at least through Monday. My middle brother always holds a huge party on the Saturday after the Fourth of July, complete with fireworks, good food, and he has a swimming pool!
As far as the moonshine, I don’t touch the stuff!
I hope the weather holds up for Pride. It’s been crazy here too. D

diddy, I remember you talking about the ceremony of your friend and the spreading of his ashes. I’ll be thinking about you and J. Drive safely. And have fun at your brother’s party on Saturday. We are going to lay low, close to home. Maybe going to the studio with some friends over the 4th. We should be able to see the downtown fireworks pretty well from there. Happy Holiday week!

diddy, I was scanning the home page when I saw this post was going to roll off to the next page. I then remembered that I had wanted to tell you I saw one of these Wonder sandwich containers at that same store in Pennsylvania when I was there with Mom last week. Sounds like the fatter wheat breads don’t fit in them well (see Comment #6). But still, aren’t you tempted to get one? 8) I Wonder.

QM, as a non-white bread eater of course I will still purchase the container! I’m glad you spotted them again at the store we know is so close in proximaty to my home! If nothing more I will display it in my kitchen with all of the other nostalgic items! Thanks for letting me know! No need to Wonder any more! D
