turtle or tortoise?
our backyard hare’s name Tawny
wait! rabbit or hare?
What’s the Difference Between a Rabbit & a Hare? Find the answer here: Rabbits and Hares. No more confusion! (LINK)

QM, I thought about writing a haiku to thank you for the link, but I’m just not that creative right now. 8) So, thanks!
I didn’t know they were from different species, although I did know they had physical differences. I’ve seen jack rabbits in these parts, and in fact, just a bit west of here, you’ll often see mostly jack rabbits.
So you guys have a hare named Tawny in your backyard?

ybonesy, I didn’t know the difference between rabbit and hare until tonight. I just got curious and had to look it up. It makes sense though, when you think about the snowshoe hare that the lynx feeds on. Always seemed like a different breed.
I think Tawny is actually a rabbit. But I’ll have to check her out more closely now. I haven’t seen her as often since Spring. Don’t jack rabbits have really long legs? It’s confusing.
What’s the difference between tortoise and turtle? Didn’t you do a post on that?

ybonesy, we saw 6 rabbits out the living room window yesterday. Rabbits look so peaceful, munching away; the energy is about facing our fears. Couldn’t tell them apart. But I’m pretty sure they weren’t hares. We named them all Tawny.

I like that you named them all Tawny. 8) The Tawny Collective. Maybe “tawny” will become a new slang for “rabbits.” Hey, yo, check out the hundreds of tawny in the forest.
QM, do your rabbits stay away from the plants that you don’t want them to eat?
Also, I realized I never got you a tortoise/turtle description. Let me see what I can find, as I honestly am not sure what the difference is exactly.

ybonesy, I realized that we named them all Tawny after I read oliverowl’s comment on how her sister named all of their horned toads Corny. 8)

We haven’t seen our rabbits eating anything from our flower gardens yet. The only food thing we are growing are strawberries and I’ve been nibbling on those ripe buggers long before the rabbits get to them!
I don’t know the difference between a turtle and a tortoise either. Or if there even is one. But I’m guessing there is. Can’t wait to see if you find out anything. If I get a chance, I’ll look, too.
