“like breathing naked” love that last line.

These are just so beautiful, transporting, like floating up there from here.
That glow through the membranes of the flower, it’s especially emotional. Just the moment.

Fantastic photo, which somehow does capture some of the feeling of the air being thin… which I am getting very used to these days!

Thanks for the comments. I have to say, every photo I took from the cabin seems to have light shimmering like a mist. I do think it’s because the air was so thin and the light more, not so much intense as profound.
I have a shot of Sony, a couple actually, and she looks angelic, with the light shining down on her. It’s funny.

Great haiku, yb. I like the last photograph the best, the one of the tree, is it an aspen? It reminds me of the shot I took of the Lawrence tree, remember when we were standing under O’Keeffe’s tree at Kiowa? Your aspen shot does look like it’s filtering into thin, clear air. Only in New Mexico. 8)

The Lawrence Tree…OK QM…now I am laughing hard. I too contorted myself on that bench to get a shot of the “Lawrence Tree”… re-create Georgia’s painting. You guys crack me up!
(Of course it was 16 years ago when I could contort much better)

You should post that, Heather.
QM, did you ever post your shot? I remember you taking it.
I thought of Georgia’s tree at DH Lawrence Ranch when I took this shot and another one of another tree. I’ll always think of that image when I stare up the trunk of a tall tree.

The Rocky Mtn iris is also one of my favorite flowers.

They probably won’t be in bloom any longer when you come, mimbresman, but hopefully we’ll get good thunderstorms. We really need to get up there this time.
BTW, Jim is planning a Pecos backpacking trip with Dee this summer. Her first, from the cabin to Pecos Baldy, with an overnight or two at the top.
