ybonesy, really fun illustration! The pimento is so RED, my favorite color right now. The anchovy has a crazed eye. I wonder what it’s up to? 8) Really detailed and colorful. I love your drawings.

Ditto what QM said, and much gratitude for not including scarmbled brains in the illo.
But Menudo? You can’t pick on Menudo! They were just kids! Blame whoever brought them together!

QM, the anchovy is awaiting its fate as ceviche. Wait, are anchovies the same small fish that’s used for ceviche?

My Dad loved calves brains, & my Mom tried to fool us by sneaking them into scrambled eggs, but we kids soon figured that one out & refused to eat the slimy, jiggling, lumpy…(excuse me, I’m gagging!)

“Offal is the entrails and internal organs of a butchered animal.”, according to wikipedia.
Offal is where the word Awful came from, I believe 🙂

Ugh..that is offal! So tripe is just one kind of offal? Liz and I were just laughing at how offal is either something you give to the dogs or something you pay a lot of money for as a delicacy. Everything is relative! 8)

Don’t forget chitlins—-imagine a huge pot on the stove with roiling pig intestines, white and rubbery, the smell steaming around the house. Then think about biting down on them because you want to appear to be cosmopolitan. arrrrrrrrgh

disrespectful, I

in English midwinter

Would y’all say ‘Chilyan’ is cool?]

P.S. Connection obscure – I thought: ‘fruit is the opposite of tripe et al’, then it struck me that even with fruit, I can’t bring myself to eat spring fruit at the opposite time of year – cherries are supposed to mean that summer (not winter) is nearly here.
QM you are getting amazingly profficient with your haiku – Are you dreaming in haiku yet? [If ‘yes’, beware those nice young men in their long white coats…]
oliverowl: rhyming haiku sure is upping the ante!
yb – are haiku about to proliferate throughout the whole output of redravine?

ybonesy – headchees is my Manna – just love it. My mom made kocsonya, a form of jellied headcheese every Christmas for dinner. It was a big deal production, and hers was exceptionally tasty. My Rumpole gags every time i bring headcheese home, he calls it offal.
Love the drawing, the intestines look like they’re a form of mysterious script. Why is there no font called “Intestine” ? G

Hey, I hadn’t been here in a while, and I have to say these are some awesome offal haiku 8) . Yes, rhyming haiku is a new challenge. I’m sitting here trying to figure out what rhymes with “chittlin’.”
QM, your #17 is awesome. Bite down, rubber steam — yes, what a great line for the senses!
stranger, you must be very healthy, because they say that eating fruit that is in season also boosts immune system. I, however, would eat bing cherries any time of year. 8(
G, I come from a family of head cheese lovers, but alas, I am not among them. My grandparents loved all these foods — blood sausage, head cheese. As I recall, head cheese is a meat (like a lunch meat) and not a cheese at all, right? It’s an Old World taste, I think.

stranger, thank you. Yes, I’ve started dreaming in haiku. I’ve even started to think that way in the day time. No white coats yet! 8)
yb, #17 was inspired by Franny’s comment #16. The graphics just called out for a haiku.
G., your Intestine font is truly brilliant!
ybonesy, I think you’re on to something with Intestine font. I mean if you check out the Sony Pepperoni post and Sony’s name, you are well on your way. You could market it through red Ravine, create a whole alphabet and history around it. I love it. 8)
