Refraction, downtown Minnesota Central Library, March 2008, during Talk of the Stacks. Ali Selim and Will Weaver discussed the making of Sweet Land. Every time you post one of these, I miss Minnesota more and more.
Thanks for that . . .

Brian, thank you for the generous comment. There are many wonderful things about Minnesota, especially for writers and artists. And for climate, I love this time of year especially — Spring. Over the last few weeks, everything started popping in brilliant shades of green. The only thing I miss is the mountains. I have to go East or West for that kind of grounding. 8)
diddy, thanks. I’m so glad I’m not going to miss you all when I visit in July (Comments #34 & 35 LINK). I’m still talking Liz into coming for part of the trip. Hey, how far are the Outer Banks from Augusta? Can you do a drive-by from there, or is it way off the beaten path?

Beautiful, QM. I can’t tell what’s reflection and what’s not. It’s the kind of photo that I can just stare at and stare at. Bookish writer grins 8) (Cool, sunglasses-wearing writer grins.)

QM, I’m not sure how far out of the way it is as J & I had to spend a night at a hotel. My back could not take the drive. I was going to suggest that all of you stop by on your way or your way back. The home is lovely & the view of the beach is absolutely awesome! Mom can share that info with you. I will email the the website & house# for you to view. We would love to have you all drop by & though we are short of rooms, perhaps you can camp out on the floor & sofas for a night. So much to do there also! I think your camera would get quite the work-out! D

Thanks Lissa, ybonesy, Scot, heather. I’m grinning away. I really love posting these because they take me back in memory to the moment I took the shot. It was kind of a strange night that night. But I was really intrigued by the way Ali Selim contacted Will Weaver in order to get the rights for his story. And what transpired after that. Hearing the filmmaker’s side, and the writer’s side, enriched both for me.
diddy, thanks for the info. I got your links and will check it all out. I have to look at a map and see what is humanly possible, miles-wise. I sure appreciate the offer. I know Mom has been missing the ocean and so have I. If we don’t make it to the Outer Banks (or if it’s too far), we might head over to the ocean a few days in Georgia. I’m keeping my options open. 8) I’m glad you’re excited for your trip. It sounds wonderful!
