time crawls, sweeps sunset
off branches of winter dew
ash, oak, and cedar

I love how the branches in this series really do seem to “crawl” into the sunset. Gorgeous, QM. Also, I don’t know if it was intentional or not, but the last line of your lovely haiku begins with the word, “ash” while the first word of your photo title is “ask.” I kind of liked “ask” in the title, as though I could ask the oak and cedar anything I wanted, anytime I wanted to, and get the wisdom I needed. How Mary Oliver of you!

Excellent haiku, QM.
I admit it’s been a long time since I’ve tried to be that creative. Here’s one to start the juices flowing on this cold, Indiana Monday morning:
Get up and open
your eyes, for the day is new.
Gonna miss the bus!
Ha!

hi ho – nice blog
I braved one haiku back in the 70’s and haven’t been able to top it …

What I like BEST about haiku is the resonance … the internal reverb that echoes through being … you show a deft hand … Maybe you’ll consider one or two of my short stories?
Favourites seem to be ‘The Dancing Bear’ and/or ‘Gone Native’, though ‘Ring of Fire’ and ‘Words for Higher’ also ‘work’. Wonder how you’d haiku a review …
Best, c

sharonimo, Oh, dear, that “ask” under the photo was not intentional at all but a typo on my part. But now that you put it into a Mary Oliver context, I really seem to like it. 8) So I’m going to leave it. I’m so glad I am starting to live quite nicely with my imperfections!
tysdaddy, fun back and forth with you and sharonimo. A great way to start the day!
canadada, I like the way you put that line about haiku – the resonance … the internal reverb that echoes through being. Thanks for stopping by. I will check out your site.

QM — not to beat a dead horse, but did you notice how my avatar did not appear in one of the above posts? I didn’t even get a place holder image.
I’m beginning to think that she determines whether or not she likes whatever I post and then appears if she wants to take credit for it.

8) she’s quite headstrong, that avatar of yours. Hey, I noticed the same thing with tysdaddy’s avatar. He’s got one, too, that shows up sometimes and other times doesn’t. That totally makes me think it is WordPress. If it keeps happening, maybe ybonesy or I can contact their support. In the mean time, I guess we’ll play peek-a-boo.
