A new day, detail of sun rising on an end-of-January morning, Rio Grande Valley clouds and sunrise in winter, photos © 2008 by Jim. All rights reserved.
yesterday it snowed
the earth knows how parched i’ve been
sun rises in my heart

Exquisite, YB, what hope this reveals.

rain, rain, oh please stay
i can hide inside all day
tomorrow, I’ll play…
face, looking skyward
washing off layers, layers
please…don’t stop the rain.
rising in the dark
each new day, bringing more rain
day and night are one.
dry, free, lively…when?
all the things i could have been
the rain washed away
(these aren’t necessarily connected to each other, or maybe they are…this weather has rained me into a love/hate relationship with it…)

yb: When my son was little, he took a picture of the sun’s rays coming out from a cloud. After the pictures were developed he said, “Look! It’s a picture of God!”
Jim’s photo captures that divine quality, as does your haiku.
You’ve provided a perfect refuge on a cold, windy winter day in Cheyenne. Thanks.

YB – Beautiful photo and haiku. This afternoon, I was driving west towards the mountains and the view was so lovely, I thought “surely I can compose a haiku out of this,” and here it is:
clouds rest on mountains,
hanging a gossamer veil
of angels’ tear drops

YB I love this haiku! I think the haikus (sp?) are like little minature paintings!

Thank you for the comments and inspirational words.
As I’ve mentioned before, I am a morning person. I think the reason is that I love the prospect of a new day. Such promise.
It’s probably also related to my over-ability to procrastinate. Ah, for every plus, there is a minus. The double-edged sword.
