I don’t know if it’s my cell phone camera, the older airplane, or San Jose, but something about this photo reminds me of a bygone era.
We’re staying in downtown San Jose. I love it.
I instantly started singing the song when I read the title of this piece. I got through quite a few lines, all the way to “Whoa, whoa, whoa….” There are too many “whoas” to type.
I like the looks of this airplane. One can’t go wrong in a yellow airplane.

No, one can’t. Mustard yellow, at that. It’s in this season.

It’s a great shot. Makes me think 60’s, almost polaroid.

Yes, I agree with neath. Looks like a polaroid. Amazing colors. I drove through San Jose once but didn’t see much of the town. Safe travels, ybonesy. And thanks for posting!

California, the Golden State. Even the smog looks golden. Anyone remember the song “All the gold, in California…” (is in a bank, in Beverly Hills, in somebody else’s name…)
California has always been, and will always remain, my dream place to live. It’s a fantasy, nice to visit (I go there often), but I can’t afford to live there, at least not in the style to which I’d like to become accustomed!

Ritergal, I had to look that song up – the Gatlin Brothers ring a bell? I love to visit California but have no desire to live there. I guess that’s why I live here. 8) I’ve always found it fascinating to hear the places where people would like to live, compared to where they do live. Many times the two don’t match, for various reasons.
There have been times when I’ve wanted to go back to a place because of the beauty or my ties there. But now I’ve realized, it probably is not going to happen. I’m kind of happy here. But I can always visit. Lately, I’ve been missing Oregon. I hope I can visit the coast there again in the next few years. Sometimes I miss the ocean.

It’s not your imagination or your cell phone camera. San Jose is stuck in a bizarro time warp. It never looks quite right.

Nice shot of the Taylor street bridge over Hwy 87. The bridge and overpass in the center of the shot are only a few years old, and I’m amazed how quickly I recognized it.
Nice airplane too.
San Jose is indeed an anomalous place in the space-time continuum. It’s a small city, trying to be a small town and a big city at the same time.
I found your page while Googling the words “Do you know the way to San Jose.”

That’s funny. I just tried it (Googling the words). There are a lot of pages with that title.
I enjoyed San Jose immensely. It seems like it’s a small town inside a big place. Not a big city, because the bigness is more in the sense of a geographically spread-out place. But San Jose has character and roots.

Nice shot of the county jail.

Thanks. I’ll be going there (to San Jose, not to the county jail) next month, so I hope to try a different shot that time.
