Mornings, and I find myself on a Friday afternoon thinking about Saturday morning. I love my ritual of making coffee, heating up milk (if I don’t, it will turn the coffee cold, I use so much), watching the light stream through the sliding glass door. We don’t get the morning paper, but if I could, I’d order one up just for tomorrow so I could walk out the long drive past the old wagon and to the place outside the gate where the paper would wait, just for me.
This isn’t living in the present, I know. This moment — right now — is Friday, not Saturday. It is 4:38 pm, not 6:30 am. And yet, I won’t wag a finger at myself for not living in the moment. Maybe I let myself off the hook too easily by telling myself, “It’s all in anticipation for new beginnings.”
And here’s my secret: 80% of the time I would choose a new day over the end of this day. That’s me. Don’t feel bad for me. I don’t.
TGIF.
I didn’t notice that wagon when I was visiting you in July. That’s a cool shot. Even though your secret it out, have a good evening. Soon it will be Saturday morning. 8)

This picture looks like a Civil War shot to me. I guess that doesn’t sound quite right. I don’t mean it in a morbid way, but in a forgotten-wagon-in-the-Deep-South sort of way. In fact, when I first saw it I thought it must have been one of QuoinMonkey’s pictures from Georgia. It’s a beautiful shot.

I once had a subscription for the Los Angeles Times. I only wanted Sunday…just Sunday…but they talked me into weekly. They’d made me feel like my one subscription would save the whole human race. I’d let those things pile up and then toss them out on Sunday…when the “real” paper came.
That yard of yours makes me smile. It’s seems a wonderful place to ponder…and drink that coffee! You are my kinda folk ybonesy. I was pretty sure from the writing and the artwork…but the coffee pushed me over the edge. If you’d mentioned biscuits… I would wonder if we are related.
For the record, most of us would choose another day (I’m wishing myself into a corn field as I write this) But the next day we would choose the one we’d just tossed aside for the new one. We are a fickled species. Humans… at least we have biscuits!

I often wonder what “living in the moment” really means. I’m often totally living in a moment that has no relation to what the clock says.

Beautiful field, gorgeous morning. That is grass there as it’s meant to be. I hope you are having a good evening and will have a lovely morning to awake to.
Thanks for putting me on your blogroll. G

Ritergal — patent that quote: I’m often totally living in a moment that has no relation to what the clocks says.
Heather, if you would have said tortillas, I might have thought we were related. (And bacon, although if I don’t have a tortilla, a few slices of bacon inside a biscuit split open is all I need for breakfast.)
The old wagon came with the house. It has all its parts, and it’s kind of a shame that it’s out there exposed to the elements, but where else to put it? We’ve just left it where it when we bought the place. It sits in its own little wooded area, mint growing in front of it, and trees (I think apple) around it. There’s so much here I haven’t explored yet. And, yes, it does evoke another time and place. That’s why I like it so much.
Whew…almost morning…

QM and I spent time these past two days reviewing our blogroll. We moved a lot of our links down to something we call Lynx, and we’re left with a smallish list for our blogroll, but we’re feeling good about who we have. They’re all people whose blogs we visit. I’m glad we put you there, too, G.
It was cool to see that you do free writes, which we call “writing practice.” I think they’re similar, anyway. I guess we’ll learn. Thanks for dropping by.

Heather, it’s great we can all learn from each other. And cyberspace makes it possible to check in any time of the day or night. It’s cool that way.
Yes, ybonesy and I have decided to make our blogroll the people and places we actually interact with and comment on each day. And the Lynx are websites of resources, artists, writers, and some blogs that are less interactive, but great blogs to use as resources or places for inspiration.
It’s working for us a little better. And as we all know, blogs are ever evolving. Nothing is static in blogworld!
