Hey, for the past day-and-a-half, red Ravine has been featured as “Blog of the Day” on FuelMyBlog, a fairly new directory of blogs.
FuelMyBlog is one of our favorite blogging social sites, and not just because they gave us some free press. The blogs registered there are from all over the world, many newcomers to the blogosphere. So far, there are no so-called “A-list blogs” like there are on other blog directories, such as Technorati.
FuelMyBlog has a fresh feel to it; if blog directories had a zen-ness to them, FuelMyBlog would be “beginner’s mind.” (In a good way. A very good way.)
So, if you are so inclined, we’d much appreciate if you would go out to FuelMyBlog and fuel our blog. You’ll need an account, which is EASY to get. There’s a form to fill out, but you only need to input the account name, password, and your email address. Everything else is optional. You can vote once a day for our blog.
While you’re there, check out and vote for other blogs, too. There are A LOT of good ones, many in the Art/Design category, as well as Literature and Photography. Keep going back; new blogs are added daily. And by all means, if you have a blog, register it! And then let us know so we can fuel your blog, too.
I wanted to say one more thing about FuelMyBlog – their service is impeccable. I’ve written them a few times about questions and gotten personal responses, usually within hours. You can’t find that anywhere anymore. And I’m grateful.
Also, there really are some great blogs there. The venues I’ve visited the most are art, writing, photography. But there are many other categories. It’s great to vote for the blogs you like – it is in the spirit of giving and fosters community.
Like ybonesy said, they are the “beginner’s mind” of social sites.

You’ve been fueled.
I like FuelMyBlog mostly for the design elements, and for how it doesn’t feel overwhelming.
As to personal responses, I didn’t get one for the email that I sent, but the problem in question was quickly resolved.
Nice blog, by the way!

Thank you, thank you.
Sam, I checked out your blog. Wow, why didn’t we think of that??
How’s the weather these days? It’s hot and kind of muggy in the middle Rio Grande Valley, but I’m headed to the north next week. I’m hoping for rain!

Thanks, QuoinMonkey et ybonesy! For the fuel, and the link, and the visits, and the comments… Ummm… let’s just leave it at “Thanks!”
It’s always hot and muggy through spring and summer in Southeast Missouri. It was NEVER humid was I was in Taos, and, to be honest, it got just a little too cold there at night. The Taos area had a flood watch this evening, though, so although I hope you get your rain, ybonesy, I hope not much of it falls there.
Have a great trip, either way!
P.S. I’ve been enjoying your blog for a few days now, starting with the El Agua Es La Vida post. This is an interesting place!

A usted.
Last year at this time I spent a week in northern NM, and one of those days, maybe July 5, the monsoons officially began and for the year, at least, ended NM’s drought. It was heaven. Dee and I hiked down Kitchen Mesa in the pouring rain. El agua es la vida, but ya, mother nature can wreak havoc.
Well check out some of the archives. We have a Taos category, you know.

sam, we’ve been socked in with humidity in Minnesota the last week. I am not fond of it. I really like the dryer heat. And, honestly, I prefer winter. Today the humidity broke as cooler air filtered in. We’ve got the AC off tonight. Heaven.
I haven’t spent much time in Missouri. Only driven through there a few times. I assume summer’s like a lot of the rest of the Midwest. But what are the winters like there? And when are you going to be getting back to Taos?

Thanks for the great feedback!
Sam, I am sorry, please resend the email, we had a major email issue just resolved here, one (it maybe more now) of our bloggers mailed me, I replied and it took 15 days to reach him.
We are old school people at fuel, we have all had real jobs for over 15 years, myself running a large team of salespeople in London and I hate the fact the web 2.0 seems to mean no customer service, we are standing by our guns and aim to reply within a couple of hours (unless asleep!) to any questions, and personally.
Loads of cool new features coming once the site re-launch is settled!
Thanks again all!
Kevin

As I clicked off the comment accompanying your fuel boost, I had a vision of a Gameboy unit with the wee animation wanding something that magically refuels its power. I glanced at your fuel meter before the vision vanished, and it looked high. Oh, what fun to give fuel to others. Who would have thought such a simple act could be such a blast.
Seriously, I was more than happy to vote for you, because you led me to FuelMyBlog, where I was able to register my own blog. These folks are cagey marketers. They’ll engulf the whole blogosphere in a firestorm of links within hours.

I suppose, Kevin, you guys *might* get so big eventually that you’ll not be able to provide such great personal service. And maybe that’ll mean good news for you guys (i.e., early retirement)?? (I still have my auto-generated email messages from Yahoo telling me they’ll address my problem in due course; of course, I’ve never heard back since, and the problem disappeared into the black hole.) But thanks for dropping by and thanks for doing such a great job!!
Ritergal, I fueled you back. Hey, I like your avatar with tiny colorful hearts! Make sure to vote for yourself, too.

Good lord! You guys need a forum!
ybonesy: Of course I’ve checked out the archives! Researching Taos is part of my Master Plan for getting back there. “Master Plan” gets caps because it helps me resist the urge to spell it O-B-S-E-S-S-I-O-N.
QuoinMonkey: Winters in Missouri aren’t all that bad. It gets cold, we get some snow, but we haven’t had a true blizzard in — I’m guessing here — about 30 years. At least not in the southeastern part of the state.
I’m not sure when I’ll get back to Taos. I’d like to be there for a friend’s birthday in October. But I have to get a car, first — staying in Arroyo Hondo without a car means you only have access to two places: Herb’s and the post office — and there are other issues to work out, too. Some of them major.
And Kevin: It’s no big deal. Like I said, the problem was quickly fixed. That mattered more to me than an email response. 😉
