The stillness of this photograph is so strong I hesitate commenting. Yet I have a question: What are these white heart-and-teardrop-shaped flowers?

I don’t mind your comment at all. In fact, I welcome it. You hit it right on the heart – these plants are bleeding hearts(link). Many of them are pink and so named for the heart shape and reddish drip at the bottom shaped like droplets (link). I’ll add a couple of links. Thanks for asking. And yes, I’m still up. 8)

Okay,
This is getting weirder: we just planted bleeding hearts along the side of our house.
Ours are red, but the white flowers you’ve photographed are exquisite.
Brain sucker. 🙂

LOL. Shawn, can’t believe it. This happens all the time! I wonder if these plants tend to be hearty enough for many climates. They are shade loving.
ybonesy: do you have them in New Mexico?

I am missing being home, in the garden, with my mate…

Home…home is lovely, isn’t it? Especially this time of year. Perky ears. 8)

QM: I think I recognize the leaf as something that grows in the cooler parts of NM, in the mountains maybe. Not in town.
skywire: How’s Wyoming?? Is the weather there as lovely as in MN?

I just finished looking at the pictures from Yellowstone Park. We had the perfect day: some sun, some clouds around the snowy mountains, even got a few moments of sleety snow around 7500 ft. in the Bear Tooth Mountains. Really hard to compare the scenic vistas to MN, but weather-wise, it wasn’t too different from a perfect spring day. Did not see any bleeding hearts but saw lots of other spring ephemerals. Am a bit overwhelmed with it all… wish I had time for more moments with Mom (she celebrated her 70th today!) but will be glad to be HOME (home is where my heart is).

Wow, I’ve never been to Yellowstone. Sounds delightful. I do remember the Bear Tooths though. I used to love to say that word, Beartooths, when I lived in Montana. Ah, you are so lucky you get to see the mountains. Happy Birthday to your mom. Bet it’s a real treat for her to have you there.

It’s been a treat for all. Yes, time to get QuoinMonkey back to big sky country. And the geocache numbers are up 😉
So many vistas, so little time. Looking forward to posting some pictures from the trip soon.
Congratulations to red Ravine on 10,000 views. Ya’ll have been working hard & you deserve it. Thanks for your beautiful work & opening this space up to others who have the desire to create.

Gorgeous image. The city of Greenbelt dug up my entire yard last year to fix a drainage problem. The problem is fixed, but my bleeding hearts were destroyed in the process. (Hmmm, I wonder if that’s a writing topic: drainage + bleeding hearts =). I missed them a lot this spring. This image helps. Thanks.

Sharonimo: so sorry about your bleeding hearts. That’s just wrong. I hope you can replant. Ours is doing well after only a year. I’m fond of perennials. I’m always surprised when they survive the winters here. Keeps my sense of wonder alive.
