Perfect. She reminds me of the Venus of Willendorf (link). You rock.
I just checked out that Venus of Willendorf link. She’s wonderful. There is a resemblance. How did you learn about the Venus of Willendorf? Just some web surfing, or had you heard about the discovery somewhere?

The Venus – I learned about her when I started researching goddess history and chronology. I guess it’s part of my strong, women-identified history when I was in my twenties.
Then I learned about her again when I went to MCAD. She’s part of the legacy of the history of art. And a long line of archetypes like vessels and storytellers and warriors and crones.
Thanks for asking. I love remembering her. I created art and installations about the female body and archetypes. It makes me feel centered to remember. Thanks for your beautiful drawings.
The coolest thing to me is that you had not known about her before. Yet you drew her perfectly from your own hand and perspective. And that’s the nature of an archetype. It’s a universal symbol. She floats around up there in the collective unconscious. And knows just the right time to appear.
Yes, I had that same ah-ha when I went in and saw the photo in the link. That’s why I asked about her. Even her arm is wrapped that same way across her breast.

WOW ! What a surprise…
I checked the mirror immediately after seeing this post and returned to the computer immediately to report that these are MY thighs…and not just archetypally!
LOL.
I have to believe that archetypes get created based on what exists universally, and big, wonderful thighs are naturally occuring.
I try to like my thighs, I always have tried. Maybe more thigh is the answer!

I’m presently on a mission to like my upper arms. Genetically, this is an area where the women in my family really grow some nice, loose skin and pockets of fat, and there’s not a whole lot we can do to change good ol’ genetics.
