This drawing is intense. The details - texture, hands, feet. Hands of a healer.
I want to know more about the curandero. There are so many ways to tell a story.
QM
Thanks for posting the pieces of the drawing as it developed. A reminder of the subtle wonder of layering.
Oh, my god, I didn’t even see that. I’m so glad you made your comment, Wordraw. I must have been in a late night stupor. I *was* actually up until 3am. I’ve just been getting into it. I love seeing things appear on red Ravine. It is everchanging.
The 3 posts at the bottom of The Making of Miguel bring the title to life. I’ve always loved triptychs. They are so much about process.
Art informs writing. Writing informs art.
QM
It is almost addictive, isn’t it? As if we are looking for layer upon layer.
Thanks for the feedback. I didn’t intend to show the progress of the drawing. I thought I was done with the first version even though it had no texture in the body. So I scanned it, then thought the figure looked awfully bland. Next I inked in the hair, mustache, and shorts. Again scanned it thinking I was done. Basically I was afraid to touch the figure itself–like I might ruin it. But after I scanned it the second time I thought, What the hey? I’ll just start filling him in. And that’s how it developed.
